What to Bring to a Pickleball Camp

August 30, 2025 · Editorial Team · 4 min read

Most camps send you a one-line 'bring your paddle and water.' Here's the real list, drawn from what experienced campers actually pack.

On-court essentials: two paddles (in case one breaks or gets damaged), court shoes plus a backup pair (they get soaked in humidity), protective eyewear, and a sweatband or hat. Two paddles is not overkill — paddle failure mid-week is the most common gear issue at camps.

Clothing: 2 outfits per day (you will sweat through the morning set), moisture-wicking socks (bring extras — blisters end camps), a light long-sleeve for cool mornings, and a rain layer if the camp has outdoor courts.

Recovery: electrolyte tablets or powder (Liquid IV, LMNT), ibuprofen or naproxen, KT tape or athletic tape, blister bandages (Compeed is the gold standard), a small foam roller or lacrosse ball, and sunscreen (SPF 30+ minimum, reapply midday).

Nice-to-haves: notebook and pen for coach feedback (you will not remember it otherwise), phone tripod for filming your own drills, a pack of overgrips (fresh grip on day 3 feels like a new paddle), and a small cooler for post-play drinks.

Don't bring: bulky bags you can't carry to court, expensive jewelry, and any 'training aid' gadget marketed on Instagram. Coaches will roll their eyes.
